The World Health Organization (WHO) condemned on Thursday, the shelling of Sabha medical center with mortar attacks and the terror of patients and its staff.
The Health Organization said in a statement, the center had stopped working for several hours because of the “attack”, warning of the repetition and denial of thousands of people from health services, and the weakening of the health system in the south.
The organization called on all parties to the conflict to ensure the safety of health workers and respect their neutrality, demanding that all warring parties abide by international humanitarian law and take all necessary preventive measures.
Nearly 75% of health facilities in Libya are closed or partially functioning, according to the statement.
On Monday, Sabha Medical Center suffered material damage due to the fall of mortar shells following renewed clashes between the armed parties in and around the city of Sabha.
