Souq Al-Jumaa municipality demands municipal elections be held on time

Souq Al-Jumaa Municipal Council called on the Central Committee for the preparation and supervision of municipal elections, to make the necessary steps to hold the elections of the second session of the Council as scheduled on 18 May.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the council called on the Central Committee to set a fixed date for the elections to be announced to the people of the municipality, to clarify the legal procedures and to take over the functions of the municipality after the end of the current term of the council on 18 August.

The legal jurisdiction of municipal councils is four years.
