Britain affirmed on Friday its strong support for the Libyan-led and Libyan-owned electoral process, and it is imperative to maintain building progress towards peace and stability achieved in the 2020 ceasefire agreement and the roadmap for the political dialogue forum.
Britain said – according to the official page of the British Embassy in Libya – that it recognizes the Government of National Unity as an authority tasked with leading Libya to the elections, and does not support the establishment of parallel governments or institutions.
It is worth noting that the countries of the European Union and the United States of America demanded, in a joint statement, on Friday, to expedite the setting of a new date for the presidential elections.
