The Arab Parliament: We stress the need for Libyans to choose who leads them without external interference.

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel Al-Asumi, congratulated the Libyan state on the 70th anniversary of its independence.

Al-Asumi expressed his hope and aspiration for Libya to choose its representatives and leadership through fair and free elections, without any external interference, stressing the need for all mercenaries and foreign forces to leave Libyan territory as a guarantee of its stability.

Al-Asumi affirmed the Arab Parliament’s support for everything that serves the Libyan interest and preserves its unity and sovereignty, hinting to the full solidarity of the Arab Parliament for the Libyan people to achieve their hopes and aspirations, and to establish and strengthen stability in the country.

Britain: We do not support the establishment of parallel governments and institutions, and we support the electoral process.
