115 migrants rescued & 5 bodies recovered north of Mellita

Libya Navy spokesperson, Ayoub Qassem said on Tuesday a marine patrol rescued 115 illegal immigrants and retrieved 5 bodies of migrants aboard a rubber boat north of the coast of Mellita.

Qassim said in a statement to ArraedLG, the migrants, 2 of whom are children and 22 women, are of African and Arab nationalities, in addition to 4 Pakistanis.

Qassem explained that the surge of waves and the tear of part of the boat and the leakage of water, led to the fall of migrants in sea causing some of them to drown.
