HCS president discusses latest developments in Libya with Tunisian president

The president of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mashri discussed on Friday with Tunisian President, Beji Caid Essebsi the results of the consultations and his efforts with the various Libyan parties.

Al-Mashri stressed during the meeting held in Tunisia, adherence to the democratic and constitutional process in Libya is a fundamental step before the upcoming elections. He pointed out that the only way to a civil state is to hold elections after the adoption of the constitution.

The HCS president appreciated the efforts exerted by Tunisia to help Libya out of its current crisis, but adding that the solution must be between Libyans without negative foreign interference, stressing its openness to various initiatives aimed at pushing the path of political settlement in Libya.

The head of the High Council of State arrived in Tunis on Thursday and met with Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Mohammed Al-Nasser and Prime Minister, Youssef Al-Shahed to discuss the latest political agreement.
