UNSMIL says perpetrators of the Benghazi bombing must be brought to justice

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) stressed that those involved in the bombing in Benghazi must be brought to justice and held accountable.

The Mission condemned the bombing of a car bomb on Jamal Abdul Nasser Street in Benghazi on Friday, saying there was no justification for such attacks, which could amount to war crimes.

The UN mission expressed its solidarity with the Libyan people in resisting attempts to spread fear, intimidation and hatred, noting that the United Nations is committed to the Libyan-led political process, which will promote access to a united Libya and build mutual trust and understanding through peaceful and inclusive dialogue.

A car bomb targeting a populated area in the city of Benghazi killed eight people, including a girl, and wounded more than 10.
