GNA Interior Ministry warns of holding match between Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad in Tripoli

The Government of National Accord (GNA) Interior minister, Abdel Salam Ashour warned on Thursday the Libya Football Federation of the consequences of holding the match between Al-Ahli Tripoli and Al-Ittihad on Friday for fear of exploitation of “parties not interested in the interest of security.”

Ashour said in a statement obtained by ArraedLG that the fans of the knockout team may after the end of the game might ensue violence and destruction of public and private property.

The minister proposed to move the venue of the match to any place deemed appropriate by the Football Federation outside the capital.

The semi-final of Libya Cup between Al-Ahli Tripoli and Al-Ittihad had stopped during penalty shootouts.
