The Government of National Accord (GNA) Transportation Ministerm Milad Matoug launched in Tripoli the Air Control Tower at Mitiga international airport.
The Airports Authority said on its official website on Tuesday, the implementation of the air traffic control tower at the airport will take 9 months according to the contract signed between the Civil Aviation Authority and Italian Air Navigation Service Provider according to international standards.
According to the Authority, the tower is the first of its kind in Libya, noting that the previous towers were either mobile air control towers or iron towers, stressing that it will contribute to raising the level of safety; to increase the operational efficiency to regulate the movement of air navigation.
The launch was attended by member of the Presidential Council (PC), Mohamed AL-Ammari, Italian ambassador to Libya, Guiseppe Peroni and the head of the Aviation Authority, Nasreddin Shaib Al-Ain.
