Italy calls for greater US involvement in Libya’s stability

Italian Prime Minister, Paolo Gentiloni called on US Secretary of Defense, James Matiss to increase political and economic participation from Washington to stabilize Libya.

According to Italian news agency AKI, Matiss informed Gentiloni on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the International Alliance States against IS held in Kuwait, that “Italy has a crucial role in Libya.”

Gentiloni demanded US support for Italy to “resolve” what he called the “jihadist presence and human traffickers” in Libya, according to Aki.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had said Tuesday at the Kuwait conference, IS may turn into a rebellion in Libya.
