German Company Siemens signs an agreement with the Presidential Council to build two power plants worth 700 million euros

On Monday, German company Siemens signed the contracts to build two power plants in Libya worth 700 million euros.

A source within the company told Reuters that two gas power plants are to be built in Misrata and west of Tripoli with maintenance services provided. The source added that the plants would generate an additional 1.3 gigawatts to Libya’s power grid.

About 30 percent of the country’s electricity is produced by Siemens operating in Libya since the 1950s.
