Italian Ambassador to Libya: There is no stability in Libya without a unified army

On Friday, the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Peroni, said that the presence of a ‘unified armed force’ that is a representative of the nation’s reality, is what will allow for permanent stability of Libya.

At a meeting with members of NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly Peroni stressed that Italy’s policy is to support the reconciliation in Libya politically and militarily. Libya has witnessed a repeat of internal military confrontations despite the existence of a political process brokered by the United Nations and supported by the international community.

The Italian ambassador added that the military leaders did not participate in the national dialogue that took place in October, and that the political agreement that had been implemented is “incomplete”.
