The offense against ISIS in Sirte continues with a new wave of airstrikes by forces loyal to the UN-backed Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA).

One life has been lost in today’s battles against ISIS and nine fighters injured who have all been transported to a hospital in Misrata. The battles are still ongoing and are being fought at more than one front.

The on-going battles fought against ISIS have allowed the GNA forces to advance further into the neighbourhood known as 700 and an area near Sirte University known as the Military Giza after three ISIS targets were destroyed with bombs.

On Sunday 10 airstrikes were fired at ISIS targets, the media centre for Operation Strong Foundation (Albinyan Almarsous) reports. From the 10 airstrikes two of the airstrikes were conducted using helicopters specifically targeting ISIS’s bases and machinery.

11 injured fighters from the GNA backed forces were transported on Sunday from Misrata to Ciampino, a military airport in Italy, and were then admitted into a military hospital. This effort from Italian forces has been coordinated to provide humanitarian relief to Libya by providing medical support to GNA backed fighters wounded in battle.
