The National Oil Corporation condemned the severe damage that occurred to the Al Zawiya oil complex, after armed groups clashed near it for nearly three hours, according to it.
In the same context, the head of the Corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, said – in a statement for the Corporation, on Tuesday, that such criminal acts cannot be accepted, pointing out that many of the Corporation’s facilities were sabotaged during the past years as a result of the clashes, and returning them to work or building others may take years and cost the Libyan state a lot of money.
Sanalla added that violating these facilities is a crime that cannot be tolerated, calling on the responsible authorities to extend security in and around these sites and provide security requirements to ensure the continuation of operations.
Clips circulated on social media showed big fires rising between buildings, following armed clashes that took place in the city on Monday evening.
