A United Nations report stated that the UAE funded the activities of Sudanese mercenaries in Libya, which represented the main source of funding for most of the armed movements in Darfur, “western Sudan”.

The report added, on Friday, that the funding reached the mercenaries through Haftar’s militia, which took its share of it – according to what was reported by “France 24”.

The report confirmed that thousands of Sudanese mercenaries in Libya are present to serve “Haftar’s militias” by securing areas and establishing check points, indicating that these mercenaries belong to movements that signed, and others that did not sign, the Juba Peace Agreement concluded in October 2020.

In a related context, the report indicated that the Sudanese government participated in the activities of the “5 + 5” joint military committee, which includes representatives from eastern and western Libya, to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire, and the withdrawal of fighters and foreign forces from the country.
