Omran: The Constitution Drafting Commission cannot amend the Constitution because it owned by Libyans now.

Member of the Constitution Commission for the Drafting of the Constitution, Nadia Omran, confirmed on Sunday that the Commission cannot amend the draft constitution on its own, because the draft became the property of the Libyans after being voted on by its members.

Omran said in a statement to Arraed that, as a Commission for drafting the constitution, we still stress the need to complete the constitutional process and make it a success, expecting a meeting between the Road Map Committee and the Constitution Commission will take place during these two days.

Omran added that there must be agreement on the amendment and on the controversial points, and the amendments that will be put forward will be difficult to negotiate.

It is worth noting that the members of the Constitution Commission for the Drafting of the Constitution voted in April 2016 to approve the draft constitution by a majority of 34 out of 36 of its members.
