On Monday, the National Oil Corporation announced a state of force majeure on the products of the Al Sharara, Al Feel, Al Wafa and Al Hamada fields, after they were closed by the Petroleum Facilities Guard.
The corporation added that the daily oil production will lose more than 300,000 barrels per day, expressing its regret at the outcome of the events of individuals and non-competent parties outside the framework of the law to close the pumping of crude from these fields
The Corporation confirmed that it is in the process of submitting a report to the Public Prosecution and the Office of the Attorney General to take the necessary measures to investigate and collect information and inferences to reveal the planners, implementers and beneficiaries of this work.
The head of the corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, said that the closure decision has an indirect effect, represented in the loss of quantities of gas from the Al Wafa field in its reservoir and its escape to neighboring countries that have a reservoir connection and it is impossible to retrieve it, which affects the country’s gas reserves, in addition to the corporation being forced to stop Al Zawiya refinery that feeds the Western region with fuel within days
The media office of the Petroleum Facilities Guard had told Arraed that the group that closed the fields affiliated with the Petroleum Facilities Guard is demanding the payment of a financial and field allowance and handing of military numbers without joining the qualification and training courses, and also demanding the opening of their own road linking Al Hamada and Elephant fields.
