Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Russia does not interfere with the candidacy of “Saif Gaddafi” or other candidates in the Libyan presidential elections, stressing the need for the Libyans to choose their leader and leave the matter to them.
In an interview with an Egyptian satellite channel, Lavrov called for the inclusion of all parties and groups in the political process, and not to prevent any candidate from running in the elections, stressing that Russia participates in efforts to prepare for the Libyan elections, and supports the great efforts to recognize the elections and accept their results so they are recognized by the world.
Lavrov stressed the importance of committing to holding the elections on the scheduled dates, explaining that they have no problem if the elections are postponed for a few days, provided that they are organized well and avoid some observations.
