Electoral Commission: All available data confirm that December 24 is no longer the date for elections.

The Director of the Media Office of the High Elections Commission, Sami Al-Sharif, said in a statement to Arraed on Wednesday that all current data confirm that December 24 is not a date for elections.

Al-Sharif explained that any developments regarding the electoral process and the final lists will be based on what is decided in the parliament’s session, next Monday, noting that the final lists of candidates have become a common matter between the Commission and the committee formed by the Council.

In a related context, Al-Sharif added that the logistical preparation are ready to hold the elections, but the failure to announce the final list of candidates has frozen all procedures and the established plan.

On the Parliament elections, Al-Sharif said that the initial lists of candidates for the Parliament elections are under scrutiny, and the commission committees are working on them with more focus.

It is worth noting that the House of Representatives issued a decision last week to form a committee to follow up the electoral process with the High National Elections Commission, provided that the committee submits its report within a period not exceeding one week.
