The High Electoral Commission excludes Saif Gaddafi from the preliminary list for the presidential elections

The High National Elections Commission announced the exclusion of Saif Gaddafi from the preliminary list of candidates for the presidential elections.

The Commission clarified that Saif Gaddafi does not comply with Clause “7” in Article No. “10,” and Clause “5” in Article No. “17” of the President’s Election Law issued by the House of Representatives.

Clause 7 of Article 10 stipulates that he must not have been finally convicted of a felony or a crime against honor or honesty, and Clause 5 of Article 17 stipulates the condition of a certificate of the criminal record for the applicant.

It is worth noting that the High Elections Commission published on Wednesday the preliminary list of candidates for the presidential elections, as well as the list of excluded candidates, which included 25 candidates who do not meet the conditions for running for the presidential elections.

Al Safrani: Kubis’ resignation calls us to stick to the election track.

Electoral Commission: Other names may be excluded from the lists of candidates, and the final lists will be published after 13 days
