The British Middle East Monitor website, quoting Israeli journalist Itai Blumenthal, said that a number of Khalifa Haftar’s aides arrived in Israel on a private plane that took off from the Emirates.
The journalist, Blumenthal, added that Haftar has the support of Russia, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, France and Israel, pointing out that no official information about the visit was disclosed.
Anadolu Agency earlier reported that Haftar’s aide, Abdul Salam al-Badri, had asked Israel for help, saying “we have never been and will never be enemies.”
Israeli security and intelligence analyst Yossi Melman commented to Middle East Eye, saying: It is no wonder that Haftar has the support of the administration of former US President Donald Trump because he holds American citizenship, and was very close to the CIA during his exile during the rule of Muammar Gaddafi.
Melman added that Haftar’s association with Israel is less well known, but it is still very important, pointing out that the role that Haftar played is the result of the axis that has been established in recent years, consisting of Egypt, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Israel. “
It is worth noting that the Hebrew newspaper “Jerusalem Post” confirmed last year that Israeli officers provided training to Haftar’s militia during the months of August and September 2019, and foreign media revealed meetings between the Israeli intelligence service “Mossad” and Haftar several times in Egypt between 2017 and 2019.
