The director of the National Center for Disease Control, Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, said that the national campaign to combat the Corona virus is continuing in a very satisfactory and excellent manner, and that the number of citizens who received the first dose of the vaccine is close to 100 thousand citizens.
Al-Najjar confirmed – during a press interview on the official page of the National Center – Tuesday, that a shipment of 117 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will arrive next Sunday through the Kovacs initiative, indicating that there are attempts to conclude bilateral agreements; To obtain additional doses of vaccines.
Al-Najjar explained that the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine gives adequate protection from the dangerous complications of the virus, and even if someone is infected with the Corona virus, the infection will not be serious, explaining that the second dose is a booster dose that gives complete immunity.
Al-Najjar indicated that the center works with the advice of the World Health Organization and the largest international health authorities that have used vaccinations and announced their effectiveness, stressing that they cannot allow a vaccine to be circulated or given to people without being sure of its effectiveness, whether it is in routine or anti-Coronavirus vaccinations.
In a related context, the National Vaccination Coordinator at the National Center for Disease Control, Ahmed Al-Qarari, said that the number of citizens who received the AstraZeneca vaccine is more than 95% of the targeted groups of 70 years and over.
Al-Qarari indicated that the Chinese vaccine was distributed to four branches of the medical supply system and 16 municipalities that worked on vaccination, confirming that they did not record serious side effects for citizens that lead to hospitalization or death, explaining that after the holiday, all municipalities will resume the vaccination campaign for the groups targeted by the Chinese vaccination of 18 years And above.
It is worth noting that on April 10, the Ministry of Health announced the launch of the Coronavirus vaccination campaign in all regions of Libya.
