The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian House of Representatives, Piero Fasino, announced on Wednesday that his country has participated in the framework of cooperation with the Libyan House of Representatives, in the legislative and organizational procedures for the December 2021 elections.
During a hearing session of the Italian special envoy to Libya, Pascual Ferrara, Fasino said that cooperation started between the foreign affairs committees of the Italian parliament and the Libyan House of Representatives, and could extend to other parliamentary committees, according to the Italian news agency Nova.
“Fasino” added that the priorities of Italy’s commitment to Libya are the mission of “Irini”, the exit of foreign forces from Libya, investment programs for economic development, and the opening of the consulate in Benghazi, according to “Nova”.
It is worth noting that a number of European countries, including Italy, have confirmed their support for holding the elections as scheduled next December.
