The UN mission and the African Union agree to help the Libyans to hold elections next December.

The UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, and the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bancul Adiwi, agreed on Tuesday to assist Libya in its endeavor to hold the elections on the scheduled date next December.

During his meeting with Adiwi at the headquarters of the African Union Commission in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, “Kubis” discussed strengthening coordination and cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union, to achieve sustainable security and stability in Libya and the region, according to the mission’s official page.

It is worth noting that the UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, confirmed, at the conclusion of the legal committee meeting Thursday in the Tunisian capital, that the elections scheduled for the 24th of next December will enable the Libyan people to choose their representatives and restore the democratic legitimacy of their institutions.
