President “Donald Trump” became the first president in history to be held accountable twice by the US House of Representatives, as the House voted to impeach Trump, by 231 votes to 197.
The Council approved the bill, formally known as H.Res. 24 – Impeachment of Donald John Trump, President of the United States; Due to serious crimes and misdemeanors, he joined the three presidents who were held accountable before.
Johnson
After the removal of the “Democratic” US President “Andrew Johnson”, a member of the Cabinet, and his “Republican” political rival, “Edwin Stanton”, from his post after disagreements between the two parties on some political issues, Republicans in the House of Representatives rushed to formulate 11 articles of accountability measures for “Johnson”.
After voting on those articles in the Senate, Johnson was acquitted, but barely, as the conviction lacked only one vote to achieve a two-thirds majority, and according to some accounts, Johnson cried upon hearing the news of his acquittal and completed the remainder of his presidential term.
Richard Nixon
The impeachment of President Richard Nixon was linked to the hacking of the Democratic Party headquarters in 1972 at the Watergate office complex in Washington, and investigations revealed that the thieves obtained money from Nixon’s re-election campaign
The Judicial Committee of the House of Representatives prepared clauses to hold the president accountable regarding this incident, as it voted on them in August 1974, but the vote did not take place, because Nixon had resigned on August 8, 1974, to be the only US president in history to do so.
President Clinton
Within a year of Clinton taking office, he found himself under investigation by a special prosecutor affiliated with the Justice Department into real estate deals in January 1998 to include his relationship with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
On September 9, 1998, a report was submitted to Congress, including 11 reasons to impeach the president, as the House of Representatives voted to impeach Clinton in two cases: perjury and obstruction of Congress in December 1998 and in February 1999, Clinton was acquitted by the Republican-controlled Senate.
