President of the GNA Fayez Asarraj, confirmed that he would not sit or negotiate with the leader of the aggressor militias after the disasters and crimes he committed against the Libyans, and that the latter blew all previous political processes.
Asarraj said in his interview with the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” on Tuesday, that the reconciliation government accepted the humanitarian truce to confront the Corona epidemic, and we expected that Haftar would be a man of his word even for once, but he saw the epidemic as an opportunity to attack the army, noting that Haftar had started targeting populated areas and factories. And Asarraj indicated that after the first Haftar attack, they rearranged and organized their ranks, launched counter-attacks, and regained many locations, including Gharyan, Sabratha, and Sorman, once again, and they are continuing to repel the aggression.
Asarraj indicated in his speech that the army faced Haftar’s aggression for a period of seven months without external support, after which they sent many messages to some countries to activate security cooperation, and Turkey responded positively, and they signed the Turkish-Libyan agreement last November in “broad daylight.”
Asarraj added that the countries supporting the aggression intensified their military support for Haftar, and brought large numbers of Russian mercenaries, Sudanese Janjaweed, and Chadian opposition, explaining that after their arrest of leaders in the ranks of Haftar, they acknowledged the presence of mercenaries with Haftar, and there are Syrians who come to Benghazi on the board of “Wings of Asham ”which is blacklisted by the US Treasury.
It is worth noting that in recent times, Haftar militias have intensified their targeting of populated areas with indiscriminate shells, which have resulted in dozens of deaths, and the targeting of Alhadba General Hospital, which houses cases of corona, and has led to suspention of work there.
