UN promises to implement its plan in Libya based on Paris meeting

UN Secretary-General, António Guterres welcomed the announcement by Libyan political parties at a meeting in Paris agreeing to hold presidential and legislative elections on December 10.

Guterres said in a statement on the UN official website, the Libyan leaders “committed themselves to work constructively” with the United Nations for parliamentary and presidential elections in a “safe environment and respect for the election results.”

The Secretary-General of the UN has promised that the United Nations will continue its efforts under the leadership of the special envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame to implement the United Nations Plan of Action based on the Declaration adopted in Paris.

Salame took part in the initiative called by French President, Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
