GECOL says Sabha northern station was robbed

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said the Sabha northern power plant, 220 kV, was sabotaged and robbed by unknown individuals.

GECOL media director, Mohamed Al-Takouri said in a statement to ArraedLG on Tuesday, an unknown group had stolen a quantity of copper and messed with some of the components of the station with two MVA125 boosters.

Al-Takouri pointed out that the station is considered the only one able to handle increasing electricity loads in Sabha.

The southern region witnessed the theft and destruction of towers, Wadi Al-Arel station and the Sabha station.
