Italy’s ambassador to Libya, Guiseppe Peroni stressed on Tuesday the importance of working with Libya’s Anti-immigration Agency, Italian non-governmental organizations and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to combat smuggling and improve the living conditions of migrants.
The Italian Embassy explained on its official page that the ambassador visited Tarik Al-Sikka Center to provide humanitarian assistance and basic services.
The Italian Interior Ministry reported that the rate of arrival of illegal immigrants to Italy from Libya fell by more than 71% compared with the same period in 2017.
