Al-Tbib: Maitiga Airport functional as usual

The director of Maitiga International Airport, Lutfi Al-Tbib denied on Wednesday, reports suggesting the airport being attacked, confirming the continuation of the airport services to passengers.

Al-Tbib told ArraedLG, the airport received this morning a plane from Istanbul as African Airlines plane prepares to leave for Saudi Arabia, suggesting the airport is operational as usual.

The director explained what happened on Tuesday evening of the airport stooping operations due to confusion and departure of staff after hearing the sound of an explosion near the airport, but work was back to normal after it was clear what actually happened.

Maitiga International Airport stopped operations for a few hours on Tuesday evening, after staff left the control room; out of suspicion that the airport was being attacked.
