The Supreme State Council expressed to the UN their rejection of Egypt’s hosting of meetings for the unification of the military establishment “because it is a non-neutral party” in the Libyan crisis.
On Tuesday, the head of the Security and Counterterrorism Committee of the Supreme State Council, Belkacem Dabarz, met with a UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame and other council members. Dabarz said that the UN should host officers of the military establishment in the Western region, expressing his refusal to accept Egypt as the host for the reunification meetings for the military establishment as it is a non-neutral country in the Libyan crisis.
In turn, UN envoy Ghassan Salame stated that the UN mission chose a neutral country with expertise in the field of military to facilitate efforts to unite the Libyan army, pointing out that he will name this state in a timely manner.
The Libyan military is currently in meetings in Cairo in attempts to unite the military under the auspices of Egypt.
