The Presidential Council confirms that the Attorney General’s Office has launched the investigation into the allegations of slave trade in Libya.

Calling on the local and international actors to cooperate with the prosecutor’s office, the  presidential council said in a statement on Thursday that if the allegations of the “slave trade” are proven, those involved would be brought to justice.

The Presidential Council pointed out that the “decisive” solution to the issue of migration lies in the stability of Libya, hoping that the international community will help Libya to find a political solution to achieve this.

The Presidential Council  stressed that Libya is a victim of illegal migration, and not a source country; noting that Libya does not have the potential to address this phenomenon in light of the situation in which it is in.
