The United States of America welcomed the results of the Palermo conference on Libya which were announced by the Italian government after its end.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, The United States stressed that it is committed to ensuring accountability for all those who undermine the peace, security, and stability of Libya, calling on all Libyans to work constructively with the UN envoy Ghassan Salama to achieve a comprehensive constitutional process and hold credible, peaceful and well-prepared elections.
The participants in the conference “Palermo” confirmed, in the final statement of the conference, the need to complete the constitutional entitlement, and the completion of elections in the spring of 2019.
