Arab League calls on HOR to approve referendum law on the Constitution

Council of the Arab League called on the House of Representatives (HOR) to accelerate the convening of a session to approve the referendum law on the Constitution, and to conduct the elections as soon as possible.

At the end of its 150th session held at the headquarters of the League in Cairo, the Council reaffirmed the necessity of adhering to the outcomes of the political dialogue, calling on the HOR and the High Council of State (HCS) to take their historic responsibilities before the Libyan people and expedite the agreement on legal frameworks to unify all sovereign state institutions to end the state of division.

The Council of the League considered the National Oil Corporation (NOC), based in Tripoli, the only legitimate entity responsible for the management of oil, in accordance with the mechanisms and laws in force, and stressed that it supports all measures to strengthen the authority of the Government of National Accord (GNA) on Libyan economic institutions and unify them.

The Council reiterated the call for political and material support for the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord, and to refrain from supporting or communicating with parallel institutions.

House of Representatives failed for the fifth time in a row to issue a referendum law on the Constitution.
