Al-Araby Al-Jadeed: Haftar obstructs sending international observers to Libya and demands that his “forces” be installed in Sirte and Al-Jufra.

Libyan sources revealed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper that Haftar opposes the UN proposal to send international observers to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire, to obstruct the implementation of the military agreement for as long as possible.

The newspaper said, according to its sources, Saturday, that Haftar demanded the participation of observers from allied countries, instructing his representatives in the 5 + 5 Joint Military Committee to submit a proposal to establish the presence of his forces in the city of Sirte and Al-Jafra base, noting that this proposal came at the instruction of his allies in Paris and Abo Dhabi.

The newspaper added that there are concerns on the part of the members of the committee about the possibility of Washington pushing forward with a proposal to send international observation forces instead of sending observers.

It is worth noting that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, “António Guterres,” suggested last Friday that international observers to support the cease-fire in Libya under the auspices of the United Nations.
