The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame said that many members of the House of Representatives (HOR) are seeking to sabotage the political process to achieve personal gains.
These Members are failing to do their duty, they have no intention of giving up their positions and for their own personal ambitions, Libyan citizens paid heavy prices, Salame said in his briefing to the UN Security Council on the situation in Libya, on Wednesday.
Salame pointed out that the HOR members were elected four years ago with 15% of the population votes and members of the High Council of State (HCS), which is part of the General National Conference (GNC) was elected six years ago, and the Government of National Accord (GNA) took over not through elections, but by appointment, so there is no surprise that Libyans wish to change their political leadership, said the UN envoy to Libya.
The House of Representatives failed for the fourth time in a row to issue a referendum law on the Constitution.
