The Head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at Ras Ajdir border crossing, Mohamed Merdia confirmed on Saturday that the crossing was closed after it opened this morning by the Libyan and Tunisian sides.
Merdia explained in a statement to ArraedLG that the closure of the crossing comes due to the protests of “smugglers” in the border area of Ben Qardan border with Libya, stressing that they opened the crossing after orders from the Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Accord (GNA).
In early July, Tunisian protesters closed the road linking Tunisia and Libya to protest the Libyan authorities’ ban on smuggling.
