Niger: Ending chaos in Libya, a way to stop immigration to Europe

Niger president, Mahamadou Issoufou said Europe must end chaos in Libya if it wants to stop the arrival of boats to its shores.

According to Reuters, Issoufou said during a meeting with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel in Berlin on Thursday, “I have expressed my desire to be supported by the chancellor so that we can find a quick solution to get out of the crisis in Libya”.

The president explained that as long as Libya remains in the current chaos, the stability and security of the Sahel countries is in danger, warning that the stability of neighboring countries is at stake.

Niger is a transit point for migrants seeking to reach Europe from Libya.
