US sanctions six people for smuggling migrants

The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed on Monday sanctions on the six men listed in the UN Security Council sanctions resolution for their involvement in smuggling migrants.

According to the US Embassy in Libya, the US decision prohibits all assets belonging to these persons in the United States of America or in the possession or control of American citizens, informing the Office of Foreign Assets Control about them, in addition to preventing American citizens from entering into transactions with them.

The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Thursday for six people accused of smuggling migrants to Europe.
