GNA Foreign Minister says Libya wants to resume economic contracts with Russia

The Government of National Accord (GNA) Foreign Minister said, Libya wants to resume many of the old contracts with Russia, especially in railway construction.

In an interview with RT Arabic TV on Wednesday, Al-Sayala said the compensation of Russian companies for older contracts may be given by awarding Russia new contracts, as was the case with Turkish companies.

Al-Sayala said Libya is seeking to sign contracts to import wheat from Russia, pointing out that Libya cannot achieve grain self-sufficiency, due to water shortage.

The Russian railway company signed with Libya a contract to build a 500 km line between Sirte and Benghazi.
