Workshop in Tunisia on strengthening local capacities

A workshop was held in Tunis on Wednesday, which included municipalities and the ministries concerned with the strengthening local capacities project for the resilience and recovery of the municipalities of Libya.

According to Ministry of Local Government, the workshop was attended by the Government of National Accord (GNA) Minister of Local Government Badad Qansou, Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Office in Libya, Sultan Haji, and Director of the EU Delegation to Libya, Pier Giorgio in addition to a number of Libyan mayors.

The project, according to the Ministry of Local Government, seeks to enhance access to basic services, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, community security and the rule of law.

The elected municipalities in Libya exceeded the legal period, four years from the date of election, and there is no information on the date of municipal elections.
