United States: Our goal is a comprehensive and influential government in Libya

A spokesperson for the US Department of State Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs Office, Christian James said on Monday the United States’ goal in Libya is to reach a comprehensive, effective and accountable government in Tripoli that protects the rights of all.

The US official said in an interview, Washington aims to achieve unity in Libya through a comprehensive and influential government in a unified, safe and prosperous Libya.

James reiterated his country’s support for UN special envoy to Libya’s efforts to help the Libyans negotiate amendments to the Libyan political agreement and set the grounds for elections in 2018.
