The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) expressed its “alarm” at the disappearance of the parents and their children, adding that enforced disappearance had become a “worrying pattern” in Libya.
In a statement, the mission said on Thursday that Al-Tweeri family and their 2, 3 and 5 year old children were last seen on 3 February when armed men in uniform took them from their home in Zliten.
According to human rights organizations, Libya has witnessed many cases of enforced disappearances because of the security situation in many cities and areas.
