Boat 106 arrives to Khoms port

The General Department Director of Coastal Security at the Government of National Accord (GNA) Ministry of Interior, Brig. Tariq Shanbour, announced the arrival of boat No. 106 to Khoms port.

Shanbour told ArraedLG on Sunday, the boat was anchored at Bizerte port in Tunisia and was going through maintenance under an agreement between Libya and Italy signed in 2013. The vessel joined boats 109 and 111 to secure the Libyan coast from the Tajoura area to Zliten, east of the capital, Tripoli, Shanbour added.

The Coastal Security Department suffers from a shortage of marine boats, and demanded the Italian authorities to provide 4 additional boats; to monitor the coasts and reduce illegal migration under the Libyan-Italian agreement signed in 2008.
