Tunisian army clashes with gunmen on the Libyan border

The Tunisian Defense Ministry spokesperson, Belhassan Al-Waslati said a patrol had clashed with 2 gunmen in southern Tunisia on the border with Libya.

Al-Waslati said, according to Russian news agency Sputnik, the patrol exchanged fire and hit the wheels of the truck the gunmen were driving, adding they “fled towards Libya.”

The spokesperson said the military patrol was able to confiscate a number of weapons in the buffer zone in the Green Tower area on the border with Libya.

In June 2015, the Tunisian authorities announced the construction of a wall and a trench separating the state from Libya.
