The Algerian Criminal Court of Appeal will open, next month, a case on an international network smuggling cars from Algeria to Libya
According to the Algerian newspaper “Albilad”, the network includes 15 accused, including a Libyan customs officer, who was facilitating the passage of cars to Libya.
Al-Bilad reported that investigations with some members of the network revealed that an unnamed Libyan customs officer, who worked in the Libyan-Algerian border, was responsible for passing the stolen cars across the border to be re-sold with forged documents inside Algeria and Libya.
The Libyan border is witnessing smuggling of goods, fuel and migrants due to weak surveillance.
