Al-Shukri, HOR appointed governor, sworn in

Mohamed Al-Shukri was sworn in as governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), on Monday, in front of the House of Representatives (HOR) during a session at its headquarters in Tobruk.

Al-Shukri said in a speech after his oath that he will reduce the exchange rate, resolve the liquidity crisis, and put an end to inflation in the shortest possible period of time.

The governor attributed the high exchange rate, and lack of liquidity to the division in monetary policy; as a result of the separation of the CBL.

The HOR chose Al-Shukri as governor of the Central Bank of Libya on the 19th of December 2017.
