UN and AU support completion of transitional phase in Libya

The UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, agreed to strengthen cooperation with African Union (AU) to support the completion of the transitional process in Libya and to move it to unified, stable and effective institutions, during his meeting with AU President, Moussa Faki in Addis Ababa.

United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), said on its official website, on Monday that Salame discussed with AU Commissioners for Social and Political Affairs the progress of the UN’s action plan in Libya, the progress made by the High National Election Commission (HNEC) in voter registration and the voluntary return of illegal immigrants.

Salame arrived on Monday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to attend the AU meeting and discuss the implementation of the UN action plan in Libya.
