On Thursday, the United Nations envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, said that the health sector in Libya is facing a crisis, where most hospitals in the country are not working.
In his briefing to the Security Council, Salame said that Libya was suffering from a lack in supplies of medicines, pointing to the breakdown of modern medical equipment due to the lack of maintenance.
Salame said that some Libyan doctors are warning of Libya’s vulnerability to possible epidemic spread, and prompted the mission to hold a high-level coordination conference between local and international stakeholders in early 2018.
