Al-Suwaheli calls on Italy to hold a meeting at Security Council on Libya

President of the Supreme Council of State Abdulrahman Al-Suwaheli called on Italy, as the Security Council’s president at this session, to hold a meeting to discuss the protection of civilians in Libya.

On Thursday, Al-Suwaheli initiated contact with Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano, while praising his country’s position in condemning “war crimes in Derna, and the crime of the bodies of Abyar  in Benghazi.”

Alfano stressed that his country will seek ” by force” to convene an emergency session in the Security Council; to discuss the latest “war crimes and human rights violations” in eastern Libya, according to  the Supreme Council’s Facebook page.
